God commissioned Joshua to lead Israel across the Jordan and into the promised land.
We know that what God promises He delivers.
As we read further in Chapter 1 of book of Joshua, we learn how God defines success and prosperity.
We also learn where we get the strength to keep going and continue to press forward toward our goals.
In verse 7, God completes the commission by giving Joshua the leadership manual.
Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go.
The Hebrew word for success also means to give attention to, consider, ponder, act wisely. So being knowing and following the Word of God is what brings success.
In verse 8, God tells Joshua how to use the leadership manual
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
The Hebrew word for prosperous also means a manner, habit, way of a course of life. So prosperity comes from living in accordance with the Word of God.
In verse 9, God gives Joshua the courage he needs to lead Israel. God would be with him whoever he went.
Success and prosperity come from the Word of God. Courage come from the Holy Spirit of the living God that resides in us.
