Look at any blog post.
What’s the first thing you notice?
It’s the title, right?
Think of the title as a headline for a news article. Or for a page selling a product.
Writing Effective Headlines Is Necessary
Experts say the headline is the most important part of a blog post.
Why? Because it is the key to get people to read the blog post.
A mediocre headline (blog post title) and people click on to something else. You’re marked as not useful.
Not fare you say. Well I think you’re right. Bet we don’t get to set the rules of human nature.
The web is a source of useful information and people look to it to get answers to questions.
Someone reads your blog post headline. They evaluate if the post has the answer to their question. A good headline gets them to continue reading. A not so good one, well you know what happens – bye.
Want to know what makes a good headline?
There are many and I mean many articles on what to do.
Here are a few examples. These are excellent sources. But you have to read these with a specific purpose: They’re focused on business – getting more sales.

Even so we can learn a lot from these people. Getting more sales is based on getting more readers. And that is our goal also.
The authors of these articles talk about benefits of a product or service.
From a ministry or discipleship perspective the question we have to answer is what benefit will or should our reader get from reading our blog post. I think the key here is not only getting them to read it but to take action. Therefore think of what action the reader is likely to take and guide them there.
What About You
