
The donkey is important.
What’s that?
The donkey carried Jesus. The one He rode on what we now call Palm Sunday.
We remember it as the day Jesus entered Jerusalem for the last time during His incarnation.
The King Entered God’s City – But A Donkey Carried Jesus
His city.
On a donkey.
People thought He was coming to rid them of the Romans.
We know it was to cover their sin. Jesus died to sin so we can also.
OK back to “a donkey carried Jesus”.
Jesus sent a few of His disciples to fetch a colt in the center of a small village.
The donkey had never been ridden.
Jesus has no trouble morning the donkey. The donkey did not buck. It did not fight. I understand this to be unusual.
It’s almost that the donkey knew of it’s destiny.
It was to lift up the King and deliver Him to His destiny.
A King riding to His ultimate moment on a lowly beast.
It was not a might horse pulling a magnificent donkey.
Jesus was humble to the end.
It had to be a donkey. There was not an alternative.
The donkey did her job.
Jesus arrived in Jerusalem in a triumphant march. People praised Him. They laid their coats in front of Him. He was to be their King.
But then He was captured and crucified. To the people a crude turn of events.
To us salvation.
A donkey carried Jesus. Why a donkey?
