What did Jesus have to say about forgiveness?
Did he consider it important?
Within the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said something like this.
For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
If I forgive, God forgives me.
If I don’t forgive, God does not forgive me.
This is not a sufficient condition for God to forgive our sins We must accept Jesus. We must believe in Him. We must believe in the cross. An we must believe in the resurrection.
We must rid ourselves of the heavy burden of carrying resentment, condemnation and revenge in our hearts. This muddles our thinking. It limits our relationship with God. It even pulls us away from Him. It stifles progress. It blocks joy. And cuts of our ability to love. All traits we desire.
If we can not forgive, we can not be in ministry.

as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
