Have you given up enough?
To put Jesus first requires we give up what keeps us away from Him.
What is we have to give up for Jesus?
That is something each of us have to work out with Jesus.
This scripture gives us direction.
Jesus replied, “Now the time has come for the Son of Man to enter into his glory.
I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone.
But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives.
Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity.
Anyone who wants to serve me must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me. John 12:23-26 (NLT)
You’ll find similar verses in Matthew and Luke.
I’m not claiming I’ve done all – that I’ve given up all I should.
Let’s help each other work through this.
Everything we do has to be questioned…
- Watching TV ( Sometimes I bing on Netflicks )
- Spending too much time on social networks like Factbook, Twitter and Pinterest. ( Guilty )
- Shopping ( don’t buy unless available cash )
- Unhealthy eating ( working on it )
- Alcohol ( none for me )
There’s more for sure.
To follow Jesus, I as anyone have to work on what keeps me from being a disciple.
What on your list? What do you need to give up for Jesus?
